Diet Disaster

Our society is filled with quick weight loss diets; like lose 10 pounds in 7 days. Have you ever tried one of these diets and lost weight, but only to put it back on? If you have then you have to know by now that there is no quick fix. In turn you are probably doing more damage to your body with these drastic changes. Now if you’re looking to lose weight and don’t have time to count calories or enter data in your phone then try some of these LIFETIME changes.

Practice Patience

By far this has to be number one. You have to understand that there is no quick fix and that losing weight is going to take time. So give yourself TIME not a week.

Set realistic goals

Don’t say you are going to lose 30 pounds in 30 days. Aim for no more than 1 to 2 pounds a week. Set short term goals as well, like aim to lose 5 pounds first.

Limit your drinkable calories

You’ll be surprised how many calories you can save by cutting down on your soft drink or specialty coffee. Look up how much many calories your drink is costing you.

Portion it

Watch your portions. Especially when it comes to your grains, we tend to overeat in this category. Review your portions and use a salad plate for all your meals. At restaurants eat half your entrée and save the rest for lunch the next day.

Pump up the fruits and vegetables

There are so many different types of fruits and vegetables, so you don’t have to eat the ones you don’t like. Experiment and add them to your meals, or eat them for snacks.

Plan the night before

If you know you’re going to have a busy day then plan your meals and snacks the night before. Carry easy snacks such as raw nuts, apples, and bananas. Yes, it takes time, but you are worth it.

Reward yourself

Treat yourself to something nice (not food related) every time you reach your short time goal. This could be anything like a book you’ve been waiting to buy, or soak your feet, anything your heart desires. You need to celebrate your accomplishments!
