Fall Back Into Your Workout

I have to say that fall is probably my favourite time of the year! It’s the time to bring out your light sweaters and cozy sweatpants to enjoy the crisp air and the beautiful fall colours. For these reasons I love to take my workouts outside and the beauty is that you can workout anytime of the day, you don’t have to worry about it being too hot.

So put on some comfortable clothes and running shoes, grab your music and head outside for the following workout:

A) Continue with your brisk walk or take it to a light jog for 2 minutes

B) Start by walking for 5 minutes, slowly increasing your speed to a brisk walk near the end of your 5 minutes

  • Walk at a slower pace for 1 minute
  • Walking lunges for 1 minute
  • Stand in one spot and do knee highs (bringing knees to waist height) for 1 minute
  • Take it back to a brisk walk or light jog for 2 minutes
  • Squat on the spot for 1 minute

C) Repeat section ‘B’ 3 or 4 more times

D) Walk for 5 minutes to cool down

E) Finish off your workout with some stretches

Be creative with your workout; if you know of any stairs in your neighbourhood make that part of your workout route. Or if there is a park bench then you can do step ups, push-ups and triceps dips. Remember to change your route whenever you can to enjoy different scenic routes. It will keep you from getting bored.
