Staple Products this Winter
Lately everyone has been adding an oil of some sort into their beauty regime, and after trying it myself, I honestly don’t know why or how I couldn’t have tried it sooner. Since it is winter, a little more moisture and hydration for your skin is necessary, especially if you have extremely dry or dehydrated skin.
More often than not, I reach for an oil-based product when removing eye makeup as it gets the job done much quicker and easier than a cream based cleanser. The same goes for the rest of your makeup as well… oil actually does a fabulous job at removing it all, but of course, you should be going in with a deeper cleanse to really clean your pores afterwards. There are some great cleansing oils ranging from average to expensive prices. However, if you’re new with using oils on your skin, I’d recommend trying The Body Shop’s Camomile Silky Cleansing oil. It’s inexpensive, and highly praised by many beauty bloggers. Try this out to remove your makeup before deeply cleansing your face.
I have very dry skin, and I’ve found that after cleansing, exfoliating, and toning, oil really hydrates my skin, leaving it soft, and giving it a long lasting glow. Although, you can really use any oil to moisturize, it’s important not to over do it. Personally, I love my lightweight jojoba oil. It’s organic, and bought from my local health food store. A GREAT makeup tip – use a light weight oil on your skin prior to makeup application, not only will your skin and application feel amazing, but you’ll achieve that beautiful glowy, dewy look. If you have extremely oily skin, you may not want to use this tip, as those with oily skin usually prefer a matte finish. If you decide to try it out, use a little less oil and wait a bit before applying any makeup. A highly recommended facial oil is Josie Maran’s 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil. I have yet to try this, although so many people I know swear that it’s their holy grail skin care item!
I find that a lightweight oil truly is thee perfect base for those who desire a flawless dewy application. Smashbox has actually come out with their new Photo Finish Primer Oil. I cannot wait to try this! Many professional makeup artists praised the original Photo Finish primer, but I’m looking forward to hearing what they have to say about this new primer oil. I think the idea is great, as I actually haven’t seen any other brand come up with this yet. Have you? You can always opt for organic oil, like the jojoba oil I mentioned, from your local health food store if you don’t want to splurge on an oil primer right away.
