Notable Canadian womenswear designer and winner of the prestigious 2014 Suzanne Rogers Award for Most Promising New Label, Miriam Baker debuted her latest collection on the runway at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week.

Influenced by an art nouveaux fashion plate purchased in Paris, Miriam Baker presented a gorgeous collection of figure-flattering dresses, duster coats, and playful pieces that paid tribute to the subtle erotic appeal of 1914 Paris, while still reflecting contemporary trends. Silk charmeuse, netting, and Italian jersey graced the runway, each piece coyly revealing and concealing just enough skin to completely capture the gaze of the audience.

“I’ve poured so much of myself into this collection, and to see it come to life on the runway was truly an honour,” said Miriam Baker“Through each individual piece, I wanted to transport the audience back to the era represented in the fashion plate. Painted by notable Danish artist, Gerda Wegener, it inspired me because it emitted such strong emotions that celebrate a woman’s sensuality.”

Designing for Women with Larger Busts
As a designer with a full chest herself, Miriam understands the challenge women face when it comes to finding sophisticated and well-fitting apparel. She creates clothing that exudes confidence and embodies understated elegance. As a believer in timeless design, the quality craftsmanship of Miriam Baker pieces mean they will last season after season, becoming staples in a woman’s wardrobe.
