Tropicana Tiki Summer Ideas
This summer is HOT! HOT! HOT! so you need some great drinks to cool you down. Tropicana paired with celebrity chef Roger Mooking to put together some recipes that aren’t just refreshing but also made with real juice so they keep you energized and chock full of vitamins! These cocktails can be made virginized by just taking out the alcohol!
Tropicana Thunder
Every party needs a signature cocktail and Tropicana Thunder is the perfect option. It’s fruity, yet sophisticated taste profile appeals to every palate.
Ingredients: Serves 1
4 oz (125 mL) Tropicana® Pineapple Mango
1 oz (30 mL) white rum
1 oz (30 mL) Tequila (Gold)
1/2 oz (15 mL) amaretto liqueur
Splash freshly squeezed lemon juice
Splash freshly squeezed lime juice
1 strawberry
Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 pineapple wedges
Ice cubes
Instructions:
In cocktail shaker, combine Tropicana® Pineapple Mango, White Rum, Tequila, amaretto, lemon juice, lime juice, strawberry and cayenne (if using). Add ice; shake well.
Strain into glass filled with ice cubes; add bitters. Garnish with pineapple.
Tip: For a blended cocktail, add all ingredients and 1 cup (250 mL) of ice to blender; blend until smooth.
Tip: To Tiki-fy this recipe, substitute guava syrup for amaretto liqueur, and add a splash of Falernum.
Watermelon Sangrita
A hybrid of a sour margarita and sweet sangria; simply combine ingredients in a large pitcher, chill and allow guests to serve themselves. The sugar, salt and cayenne rimmer adds an explosion of flavour upon every sip.
Ingredients: Serves 6
3 cups (750 mL) Tropicana® Watermelon
1/2 bottle (375 mL) white wine, preferably Sauvignon Blanc
6 oz (175 mL) Tequila
2 oz (60 mL) lime juice
Soda water
4 cups (1 L) cubed watermelon
6 wedges watermelon
1 lime, thinly sliced into 6 rounds
Ice cubes
Rimmer:
1 cup (250 mL) granulated sugar
1 tsp (5 mL) salt
1/4 tsp (1 mL) cayenne pepper
Lime wedges
Instructions:
Rimmer: On small plate, mix together sugar, salt and cayenne pepper. Rub rim of glass with lime wedge. Place glass, rim side down, in sugar mixture to coat evenly; shake off excess and set aside. Repeat with remaining glasses.
In large pitcher, muddle watermelon; add Tropicana®Watermelon, wine, Tequila and lime juice. Refrigerate until well chilled; stir well.
Pour over ice cubes in prepared glasses; top with soda water, as desired. Garnish each glass with watermelon wedge and lime slice.
Tip: To Tiki-fy this recipe, replace chilled chamomile tea with orgeat.
