Festival of South Asia 2016

Bringing in multi-disciplinary arts and artists together to showcase South Asian culture, the Gerrard India Bazaar, along with the BIA announces the 14th annual Festival of South Asia. This event was cosponsored by TD bank.

The idea is to celebrate these cultural differences and foster a sense of community where they help each other with their business goals and provide space for multi-disciplinary artistic expression.

This year’s festival not only features the performing arts, but also includes the literary arts, visual arts and an open-air cinema.

The literary arts component has been added this year to acknowledge the contribution of writers to the South Asian diaspora. There will be influential writers of the community to debate and discuss the influence of South Asian media and Bollywood on Non-resident South Asians. There will also be an improv session and a book launch.

The visual arts component includes artists from all over the world who showcase their work on the theme of “Oneness”.

The open-air cinema will be at 9pm on both days of the festival. Bring your families to join the cinema-picnic in the open!
