Harry Potter Turns 20: Here’s How Potterheads Are Celebrating
Fans across the world are celebrating J. K. Rowling’s fantastical world of witches and wizards.
It’s been 20 years since JK Rowling created a world of magic and more. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – the first book of the epic seven-part series – was published by Bloomsbury on June 26 in 1997. The book which not only changed her life as an author, as after several rejections- the six books in the series went on to sell 450 million copies across the world. So no wonder, the eight Harry Potter films were the largest growing film franchise in the history with whopping 7.7 billion dollar collections worldwide. The success has made way for a spin off – Fantastic Beasts and where to find them – only one film released in 2016, JK Rowling has promised 5 more films in the new franchise.
Author Joanne Rowling celebrated the milestone with her fans and wrote, ” 20 years ago today a world that I had lived in alone was suddenly open to others. It’s been wonderful.” Daniel Radcliffe who is still known for his role of Harry Potter echoed similar sentiments on Twitter.
