Hydrating Hemp Hearts: More than just a tasty treat

DIY At-Home Hemp Exfoliating Face Mask

You may already know that hemp foods are incredibly good for you – as they’re packed with plant-based protein and Omegas – but did you know that they can be just as good for you on the outside as they are on the inside?

You may have heard of (or even used) face masks made with oatmeal, coffee, honey and more. These masks are known to help with dry or irritated skin; however, Hemp Hearts (shelled hemp seeds) are great for you and just as good at hydrating your skin (if not better!). They also help to exfoliate your skin at the same time and are less abrasive than a sugar or salt exfoliant.

We’ve included a recipe of our own to get you started – or inspire the creation of your own recipe. If interested in trying it out, we’d be happy to provide you with some product samples.

Hemp Heart Face Mask Recipe:

·         1/2 cup of coconut oil

·         1/4 cup of Manitoba Harvest Hemp Oil (optional)

·         1/2 cup of honey

·         1/2 cup of hemp hearts

·         1/2 an avocado

Put all ingredients in a food processor and pulse for about 45 seconds, or until the hemp hearts have started to break down. Once your mask is ready to go, apply it generously to your clean face and let it sit for 10 minutes. Use the hemp hearts as an exfoliant as you’re removing the mask by massaging them into your skin. Enjoy!
