Your Personal 21 Day Challenge

Sometimes it just gets so hard to take care of ourselves. We are so good at giving and taking care of other people, that we put ourselves last. Then there is always things that come up; someone is visiting, someone is sick, deadlines at work or life is just too busy. Let’s face it there will always be something and we will end up spending the rest of our lives making excuses and putting ourselves last. Will this over time make us happy or bitter and unhappy?

It is great that you are taking care of other people, but in the process it is important to remember that you are also a person. You need a little TLC, a little me time to feel energized and rejuvenated. So I challenge you for 21 days to do something for yourself. What is 21 days, when we feel the whole year has gone by in a flash? Don’t wait for something to be over before you get started or don’t wait for the New Year to make your resolution. Start today and tell yourself it’s just for 21 days, although the goal is to make it a lifetime habit. Research shows that you need 21 days to make something a habit.

Now for the big question, what will your pick that you want to do for 21 days? It doesn’t have to be something big; it can be small and maybe to start something that will not take too much time.

Here are some examples for your pick:

  • Workout for 15 minutes each day
  • Meditate for 5 minutes
  • Put lotion on your feet every night before bed
  • Eat 5 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables
  • Drink 8 glasses of water a day

To mark your progress use your phone calendar. However, if you feel that you might slip, then use the buddy system. Buddy up with someone and each day you complete your pick text them.

Don’t stop here, hopefully after 21 days your “pick” will be a habit. Once your 21 days are over why not pick something else. Or is you feel that you have not mastered your pick perhaps stick with it for another 21 days.
