Time Out for Health
These days it’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all that we have to do. Everything and everyone seems to be pulling us in all different directions. Then on top of everything our phone keeps beeping to let us know that we have a new message or email. What’s our mind to do? Of course, we are bound to forget something or make a mistake. We are only human.
The best thing we can do is to stay calm; it’s for our own health. Give yourself a time out by stopping and taking a few deep breaths and dropping your shoulders down. Chances are your shoulders are probably high. If need be, close your eyes and just let your whole body and mind relax.
Now when you have caught your breath think about what needs to be done first, second and so forth. Don’t worry about things that can wait until later that night or the next day. Do all your text messages need to be answered right away? The answer is probably ‘no’. If you still find your mind all cluttered then make a list. This will allow you to focus on what is important at that time.
Also to keep your focus, try not to start too many projects at once. Sometimes it may be hard, but you are just creating more clutter in your mind if you have 50 projects started and nothing done. If you can help it complete current projects before starting another one. Sense of completion feels great.
Next time you are feeling overwhelmed give yourself a time out. We give our kids a time out; this allows them to stop, focus and collect themselves. Child or adult, time out, applies to everyone.
