Simple DIY Winter Holiday Crafts For Families To Create Together

Searching for winter holiday craft ideas for some family bonding time? We’ve got you covered! Here is a list of 5 simple and creative craft ideas for you and your little ones.

Snowmen Bookmarks

Here’s a cute little craft to use later for a bedtime story time. All you need are popsicle sticks, small googly eyes, pipe cleaners, markers, and liquid glue. To make the snowman’s hat, twirl the pipe cleaner around the top of the popsicle stick and glue it down. The rest is up to you – you can either draw on the snowman’s face and buttons, or you can glue on mini buttons, ribbons, and pompoms to complete the look.

Paper Plate Christmas Trees

Here’s another chance to decorate a tree – but this time, the kids get full creativity! For this craft, you need a paper plate, green paint, brown construction paper, liquid glue, and (depending on what decorations you want) stickers, scrap giftwrapping paper, glitter, beads, and a gold star to put on top! Cover the paper plate in green paint and, when dry, cut into 3 large triangles (like cutting a pizza). Then, layer the tips of the triangles on top of one another to create the tree. Add on a small trunk, and decorate to your heart’s content!

Paper Snow globe

All you need for this craft is construction paper (blue and black), paint, liquid glue, and if you want to make your snow globe sparkle, add some glitter! First, cut a circle out of the blue construction paper. This blue circle is the globe – tell the kids to finger paint (paint with just their fingers) a winter scene (i.e. a snowman playing in the snow). Cut out and glue a black trapezoid for the snow globe base and you’re complete!

Winter Hat-Mobile

This craft idea requires string, construction paper, markers, and a hole puncher. First, have the kids draw out a large hat – any hat will do! Then, cut out the hat and hole punch both the top and bottom of the hat. The kids can then also draw their favorite designs on a pair of mittens and multi-coloured snowballs. Hole punch these as well. Tie the string from the mittens/snowballs to the hat and voila – you have a winter-hat mobile!

Polar Bear Mask

A cute polar bear mask is simple to create – all you need is a paper plate, white tissue paper, liquid glue, a pencil, black marker, white construction paper, a popsicle stick, and scissors. First cut off the rim of the paper plate to create the face. Then draw out two circles for the eyes and cut these out. Draw on the nose with a black marker. Cut two circles out of the white construction paper and glue them to the top of the paper plate to create your polar bear ears. Then, rip some tissue paper and start dipping it in the liquid glue to create the polar bear. Finish it off by gluing a popsicle stick to the bottom of the plate so your kids can parade around the room with the mask. Another alternative is to find an empty fruit cup, paint it white, attach a small black construction paper circle to the bottom, and glue it to the plate to create a nose.
