South Asian arts program #MonsterArts for Youth provides free workshops to schools in the Peel Region

The new year is the perfect time for schools to book new workshops from the #MonsterArts for Youth (MAY) program, featuring a talented group of artists teaching a variety of South Asian arts disciplines.

With the MAY program, schools across Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon are able to bring professional, world-class artists into the classroom to engage students with South Asian dancing, singing, music, film, poetry, and visual arts at no cost to schools or students. The MAY program by MonstrARTity, a not-for-profit arts organization in Mississauga, is the perfect way to get kids excited about the arts and to learn about their own culture and the cultures of their classmates in a fun and entertaining environment.

“The focus of the MAY program is to build an all-inclusive environment for students from different backgrounds and transcend cultures, while also highlighting the creativity of various South Asian art forms. MAY workshops bring the youth together and would be an excellent gift from the schools to their students this new year,” says Executive Director of MonstrARTity, Vikas Kohli. “Peel region is a mosaic of cultures and we are so proud to bring this cosmopolitan community together and break boundaries with the MAY program.

The program’s artist roster includes established performers such as dancer and actor Uppekha Jain, Broadway performer and dancer Krystal Kiran, choreographer Alan Faigal, toys and games curator Raheel Patel, award-winning performer Reshmi Chetram, spoken word artist Sheniz Janmohamed, tabla player Ed Hanley and more.
