In Partnership with the Mississauga Arts Council

Cha & Chai was founded on the belief that strong communities can be built by supporting female leadership in the arts. With a vision based on equality and social justice, and an artistic focus on culturally specific and contemporary dance fusion, these exceptional artists bring a unique voice to the dance community. Co-founders Ashima Suri (Limitless Productions), Takako Segawa (Fluid Elements), Executive Producer Kaitlin Torrance and Artist Producer Amitha Mundenchira share this passion for creating a platform through which to inspire, educate and provide mentorship to aspiring female artists in leadership roles, in hopes to strengthen the voices of women across cultures through the arts.

The importance of such an event is to provide a platform for women to be able to express themselves and tell their stories. At the launch of Cha & Chai event, Ashima will be presenting an Indo-contemporary dance theatre piece that incorporates beautiful visual art by Vishal Misra. Takako will be presenting a Kabuki-inspired Japanese contemporary piece with live music.

The performances will conclude with a talkback and a reception with tasty food and Japanese tea.
