Global News Radio 640 Toronto Gets ‘ Kultur’D ‘ With New Pop Culture Show Putting A Lens On Diversity
A new Pop Culture & Diversity show has hit the airwaves on Global News Radio 640 Toronto. As of Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m. kultur’D discusses hot topics in film & television, art, music to fashion & beauty with a lens on diversity of people and perspectives.
kultur’D is produced and hosted by culture & fashion journalist Meera Estrada with co-hosts Nneka Elliott, a former CP24 reporter/anchor, and image consultant/educator Sandy Gill, better known as The Sandy Lion.
“Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world. But growing up and even until very recently, I didn’t see many faces in mainstream arts and entertainment that I could entirely relate to or see myself in,” said show host, Meera Estrada. “To now be able to highlight the incredible talents in our diverse communities is so exciting to me as a South Asian woman. It provides hope and inspiration for the next generation. It’s an incredible prospect to look forward to,” she added.
With an emphasis on diversity of people and thought, the show also addresses themes that may sometimes be seen as taboo, but through a kultur’D conversation given a voice — challenging the status quo. The hosts will discuss trending topics in the headlines and how they impact people of various cultures differently.
“We’re thrilled to launch a program of this nature,” said Nathan Smith, Global News Radio 640 Program Director. “Our programming lineup and content aims, on a daily basis, to reflect the diversity of thought, opinion, and culture throughout the GTA. This show is unlike any other currently airing in the Toronto marketplace.”
kultur’D is an example of Corus’ commitment to diverse programming for both listeners and advertisers. The show has already garnered significant advertiser interest, securing two long-term national sponsors including The Brick and Canada Dry Club Soda.
