HENDRIXROE Spring/Summer 2018
Brightened up the runways at TOM* and TW
For Spring/Summer 2018, HENDRIXROE solidified its stance as fashion’s rising glam rockstar with two runway presentations this October; the first being their showcase of menswear at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*) on Sunday, October 1 followed by a second presentation of womenswear at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week (TW) on Tuesday, October 3.
Each design by HENDRIXROE creative director Jordan Erin McKay is an
extension of her vibrant and exuberant personality; this season best captures the loud, fun, and most importantly, the passionate personality behind the brand.
Never creating based on season, but rather through her heart and intuition, her SS18 collection, “Fluorescent Adolescents”, is a varied garden of colours and patterns which live together harmoniously in a “transcendent place of happiness where true love is a tangible reality.”
“I have been so inspired by what I call “warriors of love” – the brave that fight daily for love.” Explains Jordan on the story of her Spring/Summer 2018 collection, “We are living in a really painful world right now; race, gender, and sexuality are incredibly visible but completely lost in translation. Yet, there are these vibrant, beautiful souls that fight daily for love and for equality. I wanted to create collection where all the lines were blurred, with no rules.”
Similar to Jordan’s own personality, the colours and fabrics are extremes
with bright pinks, oranges, pale lavenders, and greens using some of the most delicate silks she could source to hard leathers, as well as her now celebrated “rockstar metallics”. If you haven’t met her yet, you will feel you know her once you see her designs walk the runway.
“Fashion is this amazing platform where no one should tell you what the rules are. It’s a language that can say so much without saying a single word. I design characters rather than clothing – not one outfit is alike; they are all individuals, yet they all live together perfectly.”
