Beauty Trends Spring 2016
Spring 2016 is just around the corner, and with it comes new beauty trends we can’t wait to try. Whether you love them all or prefer just one or two, use these looks straight from the runway to update your style for the season.
Candy Apple Red Lipstick
A red lip is always classic, but makeup artists across the fashion spectrum were united on the shade for this season: Candy Apple Red. Whether you keep it satin like Dolce & Gabbana or matte like DKNY, when applied just right, this shade is red hot. To try it at home, check out Ruby Woo by MAC Cosmetics or Candy Apple Red Colorburst Lip Butter by Revlon.
Eyes See Blue
Blue eye makeup was all over the runway this season. Diane Von Furstenburg, Marc Jacobs and Missoni all used the colour to accent their spring fashions. Don’t worry about how to wear blue – you can do it any way you like, in any shade you like. Just go blue and don’t look back! Our favourites are Urban Decay eye shadow in Radium and Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Glénan.
Beach Hair
We know beach hair has been around for a while, but it isn’t going anywhere yet. And why should it? It’s easy to do and it always looks better on day two. The trick to good beach hair is to start with the right products. OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Collection is perfect to set your hair up for beach waves galore. The shampoo and conditioner hydrate your hair, locking in moisture to prevent the inevitable drying out from heat styling. OGX’s Shimmering Weightless Moisture Replenisher adds moisture, and it’s lightweight enough to keep your hair bouncy the next day.
Sunset Eyes
While pink and peach are usually colours saved for lips, Erdem, Lanvin and Dior all showcased the sunset shades on eyes for Spring 2016. It’s soft, flattering, but also unexpected. When you try these shades, keep the rest of your makeup soft, and let the natural beauty of the colours on your eyes shine through. Our favourites are Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette, and Maybelline Eye Studio colour Tattoo Metal Eye Shadow in Inked in Pink.
Bright Nails
Bright nails are back this season, in colours like lavender, teal, and light pinks and peaches. Choose long-lasting Shellac if you want your colour to last longer or a weekly polish if you prefer quick changes. For both, we love the polishes by Creative Nail Design Inc., also known as CND. They have an at-home Shellac system you can use to keep your polish looking fresh for 14 days or longer, and they come with their own polish remover wraps.
If you prefer to change your nail polish colour more often, try CND’s VinyluxTM Weekly Polish System. You get 7-day chip resistant polish that can be easily removed with your usual nail polish remover for a faster change to match your outfit on a Saturday night.
Whether you pick just one trend or try them all at the same time, step out of your comfort zone this season and spring into something beautifully new for Spring 2016.
